Western Style Tips for Men

A western look is built from a few classic pieces. Here is how to put them together.

Start with the boots

Boots set the tone. Brown leather with a square or round toe works with almost everything. Black boots dress things up. Exotic leathers like ostrich or caiman make a statement.

Pick jeans that fit over boots

Bootcut and cowboy cut jeans are made to stack over the boot shaft. The hem should rest on the top of the boot and break slightly in front, not bunch up around the ankle.

Snap or button shirts

Pearl snap shirts are the classic western choice. Solid colors and small plaids are easy to wear, and a long-sleeve snap shirt works year-round. Tuck it in for a sharper look.

Match your belt to your boots

A leather belt in the same color family as your boots ties the outfit together. A western buckle adds personality.

Top it off

A felt hat for cooler months and a straw hat for summer is the traditional rule. A ball cap from a western brand works for everyday wear.
